What is toxic productivity?
Does your productivity ever feel “toxic”?
Many high achievers experience burnout due to the pressure to always be achieving, doing and producing.
Often times, it feels unnatural, uncomfortable or even unsafe for some high achievers to pause to rest or have fun. With the pressure to constantly be producing and doing, many high achievers fall victim to toxic productivity.
Toxic productivity is the sacrificial pressure to always being working, doing and producing.
Toxic productivity can look like:
Feeling guilty for not always accomplishing or high achieving and/or overachieving
Struggling to take a break when your body asks you to
Setting unrealistic expectations for workload
Feeling pressured by “grind culture” and “hustle mentality” to do more
The first step to addressing this burnout-fueling habit is being aware of it.💡
Notice how often you feel pressured to sacrifice to do MORE. Take a moment to notice all that you HAVE done already. Give yourself permission to pause, reflect and rest.
On the burnout recovery journey, it’s important to examine the causes to effectively heal and prevent future instances.
